Discount Mixer and Shopify enforce separate requirements. Your Discount Mixer plan controls which campaign features and limits are available. Shopify controls product and variant availability, Markets, checkout, and sales-channel eligibility. For details about discount display and propagation on connected sales channels, see How do sales channel settings affect discount display and propagation in Discount Mixer? A campaign can satisfy one system’s requirements and still be restricted by the other.
Important: Upgrading or downgrading your Discount Mixer plan changes Discount Mixer features and capacity only. It does not remove a Shopify restriction or guarantee that every campaign type works on every sales channel.
Discount Mixer plan limits
Your plan controls available campaign types, filters, variants, and campaign capacity.
Plan details and limits can change. Check the current Discount Mixer plans and pricing for the latest information.
If a campaign cannot be activated, open it and read the restriction message. It can identify an unavailable feature, campaign capacity, invalid dates, or another Discount Mixer configuration requirement.
Shopify limits and availability
Shopify controls whether the products, variants, markets, checkout, and connected sales channels are available for the campaign. A Discount Mixer plan change does not make an unavailable Shopify product eligible and does not change Shopify’s channel or checkout rules.
Confirm that the product and variant are available in the relevant Shopify market.
Confirm that the campaign type is supported on the sales channel where you want to use it.
Test the actual storefront, cart, and checkout rather than assuming that a campaign setting guarantees channel behavior.
Two separate sales-channel concepts
Campaign eligibility across sales channels
A campaign configured to apply to all sales channels can use the Product tag filter. The campaign and its selected products must still be eligible on each Shopify sales channel where you test it.
Display product discounts across sales channels
The Display product discounts across sales channels setting is separate from campaign eligibility. It applies only to automatic product campaigns. It does not apply to volume discount campaigns or discount-code campaigns.
When this display setting is used, Product tag filters, Customer tag filters, and advanced customer filters cannot be used with it.
Shopify catalog tags and the Product tag filter
Discount Mixer does not create or manage product tags. Merchants create and maintain the existing catalog tags in Shopify, then select those tags in Discount Mixer’s Product tag filter.
In Shopify, add a catalog tag to the relevant product, such as summer-sale.
In Discount Mixer, configure the campaign’s Product tag filter to use summer-sale.
If the campaign is configured to apply to all sales channels, test the tagged product on each relevant channel.
Example: An automatic product campaign uses the Shopify tag summer-sale and applies to all sales channels. Products with that existing Shopify tag can be selected by the Product tag filter across the selected channels, provided those products and variants are available there.
Product tag filter availability is controlled by your Discount Mixer plan. Check the current plans and pricing separately from Shopify product and market availability.
Compatibility note: If you enable Display product discounts across sales channels, do not use the Product tag filter, Customer tag filter, or advanced customer filters in that same display configuration.
How to diagnose a restriction
Check the current Discount Mixer plan and open the campaign’s restriction message.
Identify whether the message concerns a Discount Mixer feature, campaign capacity, dates, or another app configuration requirement.
Confirm that the campaign type is supported on the target Shopify sales channel.
Confirm that the products and variants are available in the relevant Shopify market and channel.
If you use Product tag filtering, verify the existing tags in Shopify and confirm that the same tags are selected in Discount Mixer.
If you use Display product discounts across sales channels, confirm that the campaign is an automatic product campaign and that incompatible filters are not selected.
Start a new cart and verify the final checkout total on the relevant channel.
After a plan change
After upgrading or downgrading, reopen the campaign and read its restriction message again. Remove or replace an unsupported feature, reduce active campaigns if capacity is full, correct invalid dates, or use the upgrade option if you need the existing configuration. Then save the campaign and try to activate it again.
If the issue remains, contact support with the campaign name, current Discount Mixer plan, target channel, affected products or variants, Shopify tags, and a screenshot of the restriction message.
