Test a discount campaign with a small set of products before you advertise it. This helps you catch incorrect prices, missing storefront widgets, campaign conflicts, and channel-specific limitations before customers place orders.
1. Review the campaign configuration
From your Shopify admin, open Apps > Discount Mixer and select Campaigns. Open the campaign and confirm:
• Campaign type and discount type.
• Apply to products, collections, or variants.
• Discount value, tiers, and application frequency.
• Customer filters and Exclusions.
• Start date, end date, and any discount code.
• Free-gift or shipping rules, when applicable.
Choose each option based on the customer journey you want to test. For example, use a quantity-based campaign when the discount should change with the number of eligible items, and use Exclusions when specific products or variants must never receive the offer.
2. Enable the storefront integration
In Shopify, open Online Store > Themes > Customize > App embeds. Turn on Discount View and select Save. If your theme uses app blocks or manual placement, add the relevant Discount Mixer block where the widget should appear.
3. Test the product page
Open a product that should qualify and check the following on desktop and mobile:
• The discounted price and original price.
• Sale badges or compare-at pricing, when configured.
• Countdown timer, volume discount table, or BOGO or Buy X Get Y widget, when applicable.
• Variant selection and the displayed discount after changing variants.
• A product that should be excluded, to confirm that it is not discounted.
4. Test the cart and checkout
Use a new browser session or a new cart. Add qualifying and non-qualifying items and test:
1. Below the minimum quantity or cart value.
2. Exactly at the first qualifying tier.
3. At the next tier.
4. Above the highest tier.
5. With excluded products or variants.
6. With a discount code, free gift, or shipping rule when applicable.
Confirm that the final price and discount line remain correct through checkout. Do not rely only on the storefront widget; the checkout total is the result customers are charged.
5. Test Shopify POS when applicable
If the campaign will be used in Shopify POS, place a test order in the POS setup you use. Confirm that the intended products qualify and that the final total is correct.
6. Test markets and sales channels
Test every market and connected sales channel where you will advertise the campaign. The Display product discounts across sales channels setting is limited to automatic product campaigns. It does not apply to volume discount campaigns or discount-code campaigns, and product tags, customer tags, and advanced customer filters are not compatible with this setting.
Cross-channel display applies to new automatic product campaigns created after the setting is enabled. Allow time for synchronization before testing again.
7. Check campaign conflicts
Review other Discount Mixer campaigns, Shopify discount codes, discounts created by other apps, campaign priority, customer filters, and Exclusions. Test the campaign by itself first, then test the combinations you expect customers to use.
8. Test campaign changes
After editing, pausing, deactivating, or reactivating the campaign, save the changes, refresh the storefront, and start a new cart. Existing carts may need to be recalculated.
Launch checklist
Publish or advertise the campaign only when:
• The intended products and variants receive the expected result.
• Excluded products do not receive the discount.
• Each quantity or cart-value tier produces the expected result.
• Product page, cart, checkout, and POS results agree where applicable.
• Each advertised market and sales channel has been tested.
• No plan restriction, Shopify limitation, or overlapping campaign changes the result.
If something is wrong
Send support the campaign name, campaign type, affected products or variants, storefront URL, market or sales channel, screenshots, and logs or a HAR file. Include the exact cart contents and expected versus actual result.
