How can I configure a volume discount for X items at Y price in Discount Mixer?

Written by Max K.

Volume discounts are a powerful way to offer customers a fixed price for a specific quantity of items, such as "4 items for €24." This guide explains how to configure such discounts in Discount Mixer.

Overview of Volume Discounts

Volume discounts allow you to set a specific price for a defined quantity of items. For example, you can configure a discount where every set of 4 items costs €24, and this discount can repeat for multiples of 4 (e.g., 8 items for €48, 12 items for €72, etc.).

Step-by-Step Configuration for Volume Discounts

Follow these steps to configure a volume discount in Discount Mixer:

  1. Access the Volume Discount Settings - Navigate to the discount creation section in Discount Mixer.

  2. Set Quantity Rules - Define the minimum and maximum quantities for the discount: - Minimum Quantity: Set this to the number of items in one bundle (e.g., 4). - Maximum Quantity: Set this to the same value as the minimum (e.g., 4).

  3. Change Discount Application Rules – Go to Advanced settings and locate Discount application rules. Under Apply discount (for fixed and final price discount types only), select On total. Then, if you need to repeat it for multiplies under The number of times discount applies per order, choose Multiple times, otherwise you can skip this step.

  4. Choose the Pricing Method - Select the Final price option as the pricing method. - Set the final price to the desired amount for the defined quantity (e.g., €24 for 4 items).

  5. Save and Test the Discount - Save your configuration and test it to ensure the discount applies correctly.

Common Mistakes and How to Avoid Them

  • Using a Fixed Discount Instead of Final Price – A fixed discount (e.g., €6 off) deducts a set amount based on the selected Apply discount rule. If Per item is selected instead of On total, the discount will be applied to each individual item rather than the overall bundle total, which can lead to incorrect pricing. To achieve a bundle offer such as “4 items for €24,” always use the Final price discount method and set Apply discount to On total.

  • Not Enabling the “Multiple Times” Rule – If the Multiple times option is not enabled under The number of times discount applies per order, the discount will only apply once, even when customers purchase multiple qualifying quantities. Enabling this setting ensures the discount repeats correctly for quantity multiples (e.g., 4, 8, 12, etc.).
