Discount Mixer allows you to create and prioritize discount campaigns to achieve specific discounting goals. This guide provides step-by-step instructions for setting up common discount scenarios and highlights key considerations to ensure your campaigns work as intended.
Overview of Discount Campaigns
Discount campaigns in Discount Mixer can be configured to apply different types of discounts, such as percentage-based or volume-based discounts, to specific products or the entire order. The order in which campaigns are created determines their priority, with the most recently created campaign taking precedence.
Step-by-Step Guide for Common Discount Scenarios
Scenario 1: First Item 20% Off, Subsequent Items 30% Off
To set up a discount where the first item in a customer’s basket is 20% off and all subsequent items are 30% off, follow these steps:
Create a Volume Discount Campaign for 30% Off (Multiple Items)
Go to the Discount Mixer dashboard and create a new Volume discount campaign.
Set the minimum quantity to 1.
Set the discount value to 30%.
Add a discount message to be displayed in the cart and checkout.
Create a Volume Discount Campaign for 20% Off (First Item Only)
Create another Volume discount campaign.
Set both the minimum and maximum quantity to 1.
Set the discount value to 20%.
Add your desired discount message.
Important: Create the 30% campaign first, followed by the 20% campaign. This ensures that the 20% discount applies to a single item, and when a second item is added, both items receive the 30% discount. To prevent the discount table from appearing on product pages, disable it via the “Display on product page” toggle in the campaign settings.
Scenario 2: 10% Off Any One Product, 15% Off Entire Order for 2+ Items
To configure a discount that gives 10% off any one product but switches to 15% off the entire order when 2 or more products are purchased, follow these steps:
Create a Product Discount Campaign for 10% Off - Create a Product discount campaign.
In the “Apply to” section, select All products.
Set the discount type to Percentage. - Enter 10 as the discount value.
Create a Volume Discount Campaign for 15% Off (2+ Items) - Create a Volume discount campaign.
In the “Apply to” section, select All products.
Set the discount type to Percentage.
Enter 15 as the discount value.
Important: Create the Volume discount campaign after the Product discount campaign. The most recently created campaign has the highest priority, ensuring that when a customer has 2 or more products in their cart, the 15% volume discount applies instead of the 10% product discount.
Key Considerations
Campaign Order: The order in which campaigns are created determines their priority. Always create the higher-priority campaign last.
Application Scope: Ensure the “Apply to” settings match your intended discount scope (e.g., specific products or all products).
Plan Requirements: Some features, such as the “All products” option, may only be available on specific plans. Check your plan details to confirm availability.
